A new publication on the ribotoxic stress response and UV is now online in Molecular Cell

Vind et al. shows that:

  •  Skin cells get damaged by UV light, which causes ribosomal stress and initiates a ZAKa-driven inflammatory response and cell death.
  • The ribotoxic stress response underlies the acute inflammatory reaction in skin after UV exposure.
  • Like UV, anisomycin also provokes ZAKa-dependent swelling, inflammation and epidermal thickening of skin.
